Apple & Adobe contracted ARTLab to develop a publishing-oriented demonstration for the rollout presentations of the 2nd generation Power Macintosh 604-based systems.
This demo would show how the new PowerMac 604 enabled new speed & features in Adobe applications and enhanced or made possible new OS technologies such as fast QuickTime VR authoring & QuickDraw 3D.
ARTlab worked with the ad agency for Westin Hotels and Resorts and the San Francisco Westin Hotel for content.
The story line for the demos was how the agency could use the new PowerMac to efficiently & quickly create an integrated media campaign that would direct customers to the Westin web site. On the web site the customer could "experience" the different hotels through QuickTime VR.
The interface to the demos was a QuickDraw 3D navigable model of the ad agency offices. A user could move through the hallway of the virtual agency and "stop in" at any office to examine what media production task that office handled. They would click on a representation of a computer and hyperlink to the appropriate demo.
Demos covered imaging, illustration, pdf format, QuickTime VR production and retouching, QuickTime video conferencing and AppleScript
Each demo was accompanied by a complete written script for presenters and AppleScript automated much of the flow of the demos.
ARTlab handled all aspects of the demos:
- Working with Apple and Adobe engineers & marketers
- Working with 3rd-party developers to develop the QuickDraw 3D navigation application and models
- Working with the agency for content
- Creating all demos, the integrated media campaign pieces, the interface and scripts
