When Photo CD was just coming out of the labs at Kodak, ARTLab was contracted to evangelize the Photo CD file format to software developers and promote it to digital imaging professionals.
ARTLab first worked with Kodak Professional Desktop group to promote and organize the first Photo CD Desktop Developer Conference. ARTLab solicited developer attendence and created the conference program brochures and supporting materials.
The Comdex trade show was to be the Photo CD public "coming out" event so ARTLab was contracted to enlist developer support and create a strong PhotoCD presence at the show (even though Kodak itself would only have a tiny booth).
This involved:
- Working with imaging and graphics software developers to implement PhotoCD support in their applications and show this support at Comdex
- Working with printer, scanner and monitor vendors to use & show PhotoCD images at Comdex
- Creating a "PhotoCD spoken here" placard and working with vendors at the show to prominently display the placard
- Creating an "See PhotoCD" show attendee handout with a list of the 100+ vendors at Comdex that were successfully recruited to show PhotoCD support
The end result was that 109 vendors were showing support for PhotoCD at Comdex
ARTLab continued to work with Kodak to promote PhotoCD format and Photo CD-related software through:
- Creating the Photo CD marketing materials
- Evangelizing at other trade shows
- Creating a multi-language interactive marketing CD
- Teaching Photo CD classes at the Kodak Center for Creative Imaging
- Contacting Photo & Print shops to encourage them to install Photo CD production equipment
